4 Tips For Getting the Most Out of Affirmations

Spread the love

Hey there! Last week we talked about why you need affirmations and how they work. Today, we’re going to cover how you can get the most out of your affirmations. And since you’re a busy get-it-done type of person, we’re going to make it snappy. 😉

affirmations, goal setting, breakthrough, habit change, success

1. State your affirmation in the present tense. For example, you want to use “I am” instead of “I will”. As we learned in our last post, we are working on reprogramming the subconscious mind. By stating our goals as though they already happened, we are getting our minds primed to accept what we want as part of  our reality.

 2. Visualize yourself having reached your goal. Instead of mindlessly spouting off words, take the time to picture yourself having realized the goal you are affirming. What do you feel like? What things are possible in your life having realized your dream? Don’t just say it, feel it. When you do this, expect to get a bit of push back from your subconscious. It’s totally normal for negativity to come up telling you why this isn’t possible. Don’t give up, keep going! Breathing in an essential oil like Highest Potential, Believe, or Transformation while you say your affirmations may help you move forward.

3. Make an action plan that aligns with your affirmation. As much as we would love to be able to say our affirmations and then sit back and relax, it doesn’t work that way. Our affirmations prime the subconscious mind, removing the resistance that stops us from taking action. So yeah, we have to get into action! 😜 What step can you take this week to start moving you towards your goals? Pick just one baby step to work on. Even with the affirmations, doing too much at once triggers critter-brain-freak-out and leads self sabotage. Small steps done consistently over time lead to big results!

4. Find a support system. If you’ve never known anyone who has done what you are trying to do, you are going to have a much harder time seeing your goal as an inevitable reality. How can you when you’ve never seen it happen in reality at all? Find others who have had success in the area you are working on and connect with them. Along the same lines, if you are really struggling with negative self talk and self sabotage, you may need some help to get past it. Aroma Freedom Technique may be a good option for you.

I hope these tips help you get the most out of your affirmations! Of course affirmations don’t do much if you forget to do them! 😂 Will you share your favorite ways to remember to do yours in the comments? And please sign up for the newsletter so you don’t miss the next installment in our life changing habits series.

The tip where you visualise yourself dealing with a situation and handling things well is my favourite one. I try to practice that every time I struggle with a project!

I think having the right support system is so important in helping you achieve your goals! I personally could not have reached any of my goals without my support system!

I need to get better at the visualization part. I think that’s the part tripping me up. Was just thinking that I need to start small, practice my visualization on smaller
actions until I get more practiced at it.

I absolutely LOVE this post! Affirmation is such a powerful tool and I feel how magical they can work in our lives. Being in the present tense when saying it is so important too also by visualizing and feeling like you have achieved your affirmation, it aligns everything.
